DEI CHILDREN’S CHARITABLE FOUNDATION CHARITY GALA & GOLF
On Sunday, August 25, CEO Ken Darden and V. P. of Operations Jeff Johnson attended the 4th Annual DEI Children’s Charitable Foundation’s Charity Gala & Golf event, held at the Carlsbad Hilton Resort & Spa. Over 250 people attended this fabulous event that helps support children’s charities in the places where its companies Directed Electronics, Polk Audio, Definitive Technology and BOOM do business.
Thanks to our Board member Joe Tristani of Polk Audio, Ken and Jeff were able to enjoy an evening of great entertainment (highlighted by Club member’s performances from local B&G Clubs), exquisite food and a “high drama” live auction! The event raised well over $600,000.00 for 7 local children’s charities, including 4 area Boys & Girls Clubs. Because of our connection with Polk Audio, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore received a check for $20,000.00 to support programs/services for Baltimore City children.
BGCMB would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Minarik, Chairman of DEI Children’s Charitable Foundation & Chairman and CEO of DEI Holdings, Inc., as well as Board member Joe Tristani, Senior Vice President/COO of Polk Audio. Mr. Minarik announced during the Gala that the foundation would be changing its name to Forte (in music signifying strength), to better represent its member companies’ ties to music and audio products, and the Foundation’s strength in its commitment to helping children. A portion of Forte’s charitable funding will be dedicated to children’s music programs.
Since 2001, Directed Electronics and the DEI Holdings Charitable Foundation, and now Forte, have raised millions of dollars to support charities for children. Their fundraising efforts are largely driven by the very successful Charity Gala and Golf Tournament, and the generous support of their business partners.
