Scholarships Are Part of Toyota Financial Services’ Expansion of Its 'Making Life Easier' Scholarship Program to $1 Million
October 9, 2013 – Baltimore, Maryland – Through an award by Toyota Financial Services (TFS), Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore (BGCMB) announces $5,000.00 in scholarships to be provided to deserving students.
Scholarships were awarded through Toyota Financial Services’ expansion of its Making Life Easier scholarship program to $1 million for 2013, of which $5,000.00 was presented to support Boys & Girls Club member Ebony Wynder.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore is one of twenty Club organizations facilitating Diplomas to Degrees - or D2D, an intensive college readiness program funded by a $1.5 million grant from Toyota over three years to help provide tools, resources and support to Boys & Girls Club teens to better prepare them to transition from high school to college graduates.
Making Life Easier Scholarships are awarded to underserved students through Boys & Girls Clubs of America as well as other TFS non-profit partners. Close to 30 of the recipients attended TFS’ Community Day this past August in Torrance, Calif., where awards for all recipients were announced and celebrated.
“We are committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work” said Mike Groff, Toyota Financial Services CEO and member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America Board of Trustees. “Through our partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore we are able to engage with really inspirational and courageous students and become a part of their lives.”
As part of TFS’ national giving strategy, the TFS Making Life Easier Scholarship program allows economically disadvantaged youth to pursue their higher education goals by providing up to $20,000 for university, college, trade or vocational school tuition and fees. Since 2007, TFS has provided $2.4 million in scholarships to over 500 students.
