A gift of retirement assets

When you designate retirement plan assets to your heirs, taxes can take as much as 70 percent before your loved ones see a penny! Using a retirement account to make a charitable gift can be a savvy way to protect your assets and provide significant support to a cause you care about, while preserving your estate for your heirs.

A gift through your will or trust

Also known as a bequest, this is the easiest and most popular of all planned gifts. It costs you nothing during your lifetime and leaves a powerful impact. All you need to do is add a simple paragraph (a codicil) to your existing documents. You can designate a specific dollar amount or a percentage of what’s left after your heirs are cared for. And it’s revocable - you can revise your plans if your life circumstances change.

There are many ways to make a planned gift, but here are two of the most common.
