The project will reimagine the long vacant Mace’s Lane High School—segregated until 1969—into a beacon of hope for the more than 1,500 youth who live within a one-mile radius of the Club, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
The facility will feature a 7,109 square foot gymnasium, tech lab, gamesroom, and classrooms in which Boys & Girls Club will provide out-of-school time programming that focuses on academic success, character and leadership development, the arts, health and wellness, sports and recreation, and workforce readiness.

Boys & Girls Club at Mace's Lane Community Center
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore will dramatically expand its services in Cambridge with the creation of the Boys & Girls Club at Mace’s Lane Community Center.
This facility will also house a museum and cultural center that honors the region’s African American history during and after the period of segregation. This portion of the facility will be managed by the Mace’s Lane Community Center (MLCC), an all volunteer organization led by a 15-person board of directors.
When the renovation project is completed, the state-of-the-art center will accommodate more than 150 youth members daily and 900 annually. With $5.4M already secured, BGCMB is working to support the long-term sustainability of the Club and endow specific Boys & Girls Club programs at the site. BGCMB is seeking to raise additional funds, with a goal of $8 million.
