August 1, 2025 — Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore (BGCMB) proudly announces the appointment of Chris Handwerk, Chief Development Officer at Amp Americas, as Chair of its Board of Directors. Handwerk succeeds Nik Tatum, whose thoughtful leadership helped guide the organization through a period of strategic growth, programmatic expansion, and deeper community engagement.
Joining Handwerk in board leadership as Vice Chair, is Elizabeth Louis, founder of LEWKGUD. A current and active board member, Louis brings creative vision, entrepreneurial expertise, and a strong commitment to youth programming—assets that will continue to shape BGCMB’s momentum and mission.

“Chris and Elizabeth bring a dynamic combination of strategic leadership and community-driven focus,” said Jeff Breslin, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore. “Their commitment and insight will be invaluable as we expand our reach and deepen our impact across the region. With over 252,000 children in Maryland lacking access to out-of-school time programs, our vision is to close that gap—one child, one Club, one community at a time. This board reflects that urgency and passion, and I’m proud to lead alongside them.”
In addition to its new board leadership, BGCMB proudly welcomes the following new members to its Board of Directors:
Denisha Logan, CEO, Green Street Academy
Bill Wiedel, President, Triad Consulting
Justin Brown, Entrepreneur
These appointments continue a strong year of board growth, following the spring addition of Alex Hendricks, Vice President at T. Rowe Price.
Our Board embodies BGCMB’s core values: a people-centered approach that meets individuals where they are; a commitment to embracing diverse perspectives that strengthen our mission; a relentless pursuit of progress, no matter how small; and a dynamic passion that fuels everything we do for the youth we serve.

“I’m honored to lead the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore as Board Chair. Every day, we see the incredible potential in our youth, and we’re driven by the opportunity to fuel their dreams. As part of a national Movement, we’re contributing to a greater vision for equity and opportunity across the country and we invite other leaders to join us in this mission.”—Chris Handwerk, Chair, Board of Directors
The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and guidance to advance BGCMB’s core priorities: academic enrichment, workforce readiness, character development, and wellness for youth across Baltimore, Howard County and the Eastern Shore.
