We’re halfway through our 6-week summer camp—and what a ride it’s been! Across our 11 Boys & Girls Clubs, nearly 600 campers are soaking up every moment, turning up the fun, and diving headfirst into hands-on experiences that spark imagination, learning, and serious joy.

Abina Rogers has always known her purpose: to serve youth. From her early days studying early childhood development, English, and communications, she’s had one goal in mind—helping young people thrive. That clarity led her to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, where she has grown into a leader and advocate for youth voice, wellness, and opportunity. 

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, summer isn’t just a season—it’s a launching pad for confidence, connection, and discovery. Thanks to our generous donors, over 600 kids across Baltimore, Howard County, and the Eastern Shore will step through the doors of a Club and into a summer filled with joy, learning, and belonging—at no cost to their families.

Mental Health Awareness at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore continues well beyond the month of May. We are proud to spotlight the continued positive impact of our Positive Action program on youth at our Club at O'Donnell Heights. 

Jean Mocombe (known as Mr. Jay to the kids!) is a steady, encouraging presence at our Club at Truitt Community Center in Salisbury, and a driving force behind the positive change taking root in the neighborhood. At the heart of East Salisbury, where opportunity and challenge often meet, Jean is helping shape a safer, more hopeful future—one child at a time. 

Twelve teens from the Boys & Girls of Metropolitan Baltimore Club at Brooklyn O’Malley recently had an exciting opportunity to explore the world of food science at Ingredion’s innovation lab. The trip offered a unique hands-on learning experience that sparked curiosity, deepened their understanding of food production, and opened their eyes to potential careers in science. 

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore (BGCMB), we believe that mental health is a vital part of the overall well-being of every young person we serve. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating a supportive and safe environment that nurtures both the emotional and mental health of our youth.
