As 2024 draws to a close, our team reflects on ten of the best moments in the year.
- Breaking ground on the Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club at Hilton Recreation Center which is scheduled to open in fall 2025 to serve more than 200 kids a day in West Baltimore.
- Validating that Boys & Girls Clubs are a good investment in a new study showing that Clubs provide nearly $8 in Maryland, and over $10 nationally in benefits to the community for every dollar invested.
- Cutting the ribbon on the newly expanded Boys & Girls Club at Truitt Community Center, which allowed the Club to triple the number of kids and teens served in Salisbury to 100.
- Celebrating the grand opening of a new Club on the campus of Howard Community College, the first of its kind in Maryland.
- Congratulating nine-year-old Deniasha, on winning the grand prize at the Sunshine for All Cities “Nutritious is Delicious” Cook-Off with her recipe for Aloha Chicken Paradise.
- Launching a new partnership with the Maryland State Police to deliver programming and mentoring to thousands of youth at more than 85 Club locations across the State.
- Expanding our collaboration with service year programs to hire 10 Maryland Service Corps participants and 4 ShoreCorps members to work as youth development professionals in our Clubs.
- Enhancing the Club Experience such that the number of our Club kids reporting an optimal experience in our annual survey grew by 9% from 2023 to 2024.
- Growing our active Club membership by 24% to more than 1,200 youth!
- Having our project to build the Boys & Girls Club at Mace’s Lane Community Center featured in DEWALT’s 100th anniversary video series, offering a behind-the-scenes look at just how important the project is for the entire community of Cambridge.
