Building Wellness, Confidence, and Community Through Mental Health Awareness

Our Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore at O'Donnell Heights recently hosted a powerful Mental Health Awareness event that brought youth, families, partners, and community members together for a day centered on wellness, connection, and positivity.

Throughout the day, young people experienced activities designed to support both mental and physical well-being. A local barber provided fresh haircuts, yoga sessions encouraged mindfulness and relaxation, and youth participated in a basketball camp led by a former WNBA and overseas professional player who inspired participants through mentorship, encouragement, and movement.

Girls also enjoyed a special mobile spa experience inside a glam bus, creating space for self-care, confidence-building, and celebration. The event reminded young people that feeling seen, valued, and cared for matters.

Representatives from TurnAround spoke with youth about mental health, personal growth, healthy choices, and the importance of asking for support when needed. Officers from the community also attended the event, helping strengthen positive relationships and meaningful connections with local youth and families.

We are deeply grateful to the special Boys & Girls Club guests, community partners, supporters, and volunteers who helped make this event such a success. Together, we continue creating safe spaces where young people can grow, heal, and thrive — because behind these blue doors, every young person deserves to feel supported, empowered, and connected.
