At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore, leadership isn’t a buzzword. It’s a discipline we teach, practice, and refine every single day.
Our mission is to enable all young people — especially those who need us most — to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Youth of the Year is one of the clearest expressions of that commitment in action.
A Leadership Lab in Real Time
The 2026 Mock Youth of the Year competition brought middle and high school students together after months of preparation, coaching, and personal growth. Participants worked alongside Club mentors to strengthen public speaking skills, clarify their personal stories, set goals, and articulate the impact of their Club experience. By the time they stepped on stage, they weren’t presenting — they were leading.
This is our People-Centered Approach at work. We meet young people where they are, understand their individual journeys, and help them grow into who they aspire to become. Leadership and character development at BGCMB is personal, intentional, and grounded in relationships.
Why Mock Youth of the Year Matters
Mock Youth of the Year is intentionally designed as a leadership lab. Before advancing to the official Youth of the Year competition in April, and potentially to State and Regional stages, our young members experience real-time accountability and high expectations.
They learn to:
Think critically under pressure
Share their lived experiences with clarity
Advocate for themselves and their communities
Lead with both confidence and humility
Through this process, we actively practice Embracing Perspective — creating space for diverse lived experiences to be heard, honored, and amplified. Every story shared reflects the strength and complexity of the communities we serve.
Leadership development requires repetition, coaching, and opportunities to stretch beyond comfort zones. That is our Relentless Pursuit — showing up consistently, refining skills, and pushing for growth no matter how incremental the progress may seem.
Building a Leadership Pipeline
What makes BGCMB different is that we build pipelines for our youth to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
From early Club participation to teen programming, workforce readiness, and Youth of the Year preparation, our model is structured to move young people forward intentionally. We know that more than 252,000 children in Maryland lack access to out-of-school time programs. Our vision is to close that gap — one child, one Club, one community at a time.
Mock Youth of the Year represents the outcome of years of investment. By the time a student reaches the Youth of the Year stage, they have developed:
A clear personal narrative
The ability to connect their story to broader community impact
Professional communication skills
A deep understanding of service, responsibility, and voice
And throughout it all, our staff model Dynamic Passion — bringing energy, creativity, and deep care to every coaching session, every rehearsal, and every conversation.
Youth of the Year is a visible moment in a much larger commitment: equipping Maryland’s young people with the tools, confidence, and voice to lead in every space they enter.
As we look ahead to the official Youth of the Year competition this April we are immensely proud of every young member who stepped forward, did the hard work, and grew. That is leadership in action.
Congratulations to all of our Junior and Traditional Youth of the Year candidates!

I liked reading about the 2026 Mock Youth event and how it helps young members build confidence and leadership skills through real experiences. It reminded me of a presentation activity we once had in college where speaking in front of others felt challenging but rewarding. During that same hectic semester I even searched pay someone to do my btec assignment fast because balancing projects and deadlines was tough. Experiences like this really help students grow beyond the classroom.
coreball unblocked It’s a fantastic online version of the spinning ball challenge. Super smooth UI and very responsive controls. If you like games that test your timing and reflexes, definitely give this a shot!
Finally found a decent Crazy Bikes game unblocked for free. Most of the other sites I tried were lagging, but this one is solid. The low-poly bike models are actually pretty cool once you get into the later stages.
