Creativity, collaboration, and community came together at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore’s Leonard’s Lane Club as members participated in a special Art with a Heart experience, creating glass murals that will become part of the new Mace’s Lane Clubhouse.
During the hands-on experience, members worked together to help create murals designed specifically for the new Clubhouse. Guided by the Art with a Heart team, members brought their creativity and individual perspectives to a meaningful project that will become a lasting part of the Mace’s Lane community.
The experience was about more than creating artwork. It gave young people an opportunity to leave their mark on a new space that will soon welcome, inspire, and provide opportunities for generations of Club members.
Piece by piece, members helped create something much larger than themselves. Each color, shape, and design became part of a shared work of art, much like the community partnerships, history, and young people coming together to shape the future of the new Mace’s Lane Clubhouse.
The project also gave members an opportunity to explore the arts in a meaningful way while developing creativity, confidence, collaboration, and self-expression. Through partnerships with organizations like Art with a Heart, BGCMB is able to connect young people with unique experiences that introduce them to new possibilities while strengthening their connection to their community.
When the completed murals are installed at Mace’s Lane, they will serve as more than a colorful addition to the new Clubhouse. They will honor the legacy of the Mace’s Lane alumni who helped shape the community while reflecting the promise and potential of the next generation. Together, the artwork will serve as a lasting symbol of the past inspiring the future and young people carrying that legacy forward.
