This summer wasn’t just brighter—it was possible because of you. Across Baltimore City, Howard County, and the Eastern Shore, your generosity turned long summer days into safe, joyful, and enriching experiences for hundreds of kids. Instead of worrying about where they’d eat, how they’d stay safe, or what they’d do all day, families had peace of mind knowing their children were at the Club. Thanks to you, kids had the chance to learn, grow, and just be kids.

When we’re asked what impact looks like, we could point to the numbers: hundreds of youth served, thousands of meals shared, dozens of teens earning paychecks (And yes, we do love our numbers—you’ll find plenty of them in the Impact Report below.) But this summer, as I visited our camps across Baltimore City, Howard County, and the Eastern Shore, I saw impact in a different way—through moments of joy.
On the very first day of camp, I watched kids at O’Donnell Heights bounce on the moon bounce, buzzing with excitement about the weeks ahead. A group of six-year-olds eagerly pulled me into their circle, giggling as they taught each other (and me!) a new dance.
At Leonards Lane in Cambridge, I stood on the sidelines as teens in our Badges for Baseball program laughed through a game of volleyball, shifting seamlessly into four square and kickball. They were relaxed, at ease, and completely themselves—an image of what safe, supportive spaces make possible.
At our camp at Veterans Elementary School, a quiet new camper shyly shared her sketchbook with me, waiting anxiously for my reaction. With tears in my eyes, I was completely awed by her talent and passion for art. Moments like these are made possible thanks to you, our donors, whose support helps nurture creativity, confidence, and growth in every child we serve.
While visiting Truitt Community Center in Salisbury, I watched faces light up when our President and CEO Jeff Breslin handed out popsicles, the simple joy of a summer treat spreading across the crowd. Later, I found myself grinning too as kids belted out the new K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack, joy echoing through the Clubhouse.
At the Enoch Pratt Library, I joined teens in a financial literacy workshop who couldn’t stop talking about what they would do with their very first paycheck—some helping their families, some saving for their future, all brimming with pride.
And at Day by the Bay, as we painted faces and listened to kids share their favorite parts of camp, the laughter was contagious. They marveled at the games, the ice cream truck, and the chance to spend a summer surrounded by friends.
Impact isn’t usually measured in popsicles, moon bounces, or K-Pop singalongs. But I’d argue that the best measure of an impactful summer program is in smiles—and this summer, our Clubs delivered thousands of them.
Because of you, kids who needed us most had not only their safest summer, but also their happiest. And that’s a gift they’ll carry with them into the school year and beyond.
The numbers are powerful: 550 youth served (+67% from last year), Clubs running at 69% capacity (+10%), and kids showing up every day because they feel safe, welcomed, and inspired. But behind every number is a child like Kiley, Mason, or one of the countless others who laughed, learned, and belonged this summer.
This is what being Future Ready looks like: kids fueled by nutritious meals, equipped with skills for school and life, supported by caring mentors, and given opportunities they might never otherwise have.
And, we’re just getting started. In 2025–2026, we’ll serve 1,500 youth and teens across our communities, averaging 500 kids a day who will walk through our doors. Together, with your support, we’ll continue to close the gap and ensure that every child who needs us has access to the best summer of their lives—and the tools to build a brighter future.
