Crown Castle Helps Kids in Baltimore City Stay Connected

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

When COVID-19 required the closing of schools, and our Clubs, we quickly shifted to virtual programs to continue serving kids throughout Baltimore. We knew that access to technology could be an issue for many of our families but thankfully, we have partners that are helping us address this challenge.

Crown Castle, a national company that owns, operates and leases over 40,000 cell towers and approximately 80,000 route miles of fiber, reached out to us to see how they could help. Their donation allowed us to provide kids with tablets and to develop virtual programming to engage with our kids.

Jeff Breslin, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, said, “As we started to learn about the deep impacts of COVID-19 on our city, our organization, and the kids we serve, Crown Castle was the first company to reach out and not only offer to help but to step up with resources so that we could keep our team focused on one priority: serve kids and families. Thanks to Crown Castle, our team pivoted to provide virtual programs, and directly invested in technology to make sure our kids had the devices needed to be engage in remote learning. We are incredibly appreciative of the Crown Castle team – their selfless and generous spirit has been felt throughout our organization.”

Kids who were not able to access their schoolwork due to lack of technology can now join their classes and participate with our Club’s virtual programs. When Talia received her tablet, she said, “Thank you for helping us get through Covid-19, keeping us motivated, and giving us all the resources we need to get by.”

“Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore is addressing the challenges of COVID-19 with creative tech-based solutions,” said Ashley Greenspan, Public Affairs Manager, Crown Castle. “We’re proud to provide support to help them maintain youth programming and deliver important resources for the Baltimore community.”

During these challenging times, we need the support of our partners and friends. If you would like to make a donation, please click on the green button above.
