Summer Starts Here: Meet the Team Behind an Unforgettable Camp Season

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore, we know great summers start with great staff. As more than 600 youth across Baltimore, Howard County, and Maryland's Eastern Shore step into our Clubs this summer, they'll be welcomed by paid, professional team members who are passionate about youth, rigorously trained, and ready to deliver a safe, enriching, and unforgettable experience.

Before the first camper arrived for our six-week summer camp, staff from across our organization participated in a multi-day Summer Camp 2026 training series. Held at our Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club, the training brought together Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) from every Club to reinforce our shared mission: to inspire and enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Our summer team includes more than 70 paid youth development professionals, each trained in behavior management, violence prevention, and safety best practices while meeting all Maryland State requirements. Whether they're leading hands-on enrichment activities, coaching sports, or facilitating teen leadership opportunities, our staff are committed to creating meaningful experiences for every young person who walks through our Blue Doors.

This year's all-staff training featured dynamic breakout sessions focused on our core program areas. Team members designed and facilitated engaging learning experiences that encouraged collaboration, shared best practices, and sparked new ideas for the summer ahead. The day also celebrated the energy and community that make Boys & Girls Clubs so special, with a morning pep rally, lunch, and team-building games.

Safety is our highest priority—and that includes creating spaces where young people feel emotionally safe, supported, and like they belong. We invest in our people because families trust us with what matters most: their children. This is more than summer camp. It's a place where kids build confidence, discover new interests, make lifelong friendships, and create memories that last well beyond the season.
